The Riverside Irrigation District provides water to landowners within our District boundaries.
Water is diverted from the South Platte River several miles downstream of Kersey, Colorado. The water is then carried ten miles to the Riverside Reservoir. Releases are made from the reservoir to the main delivery canal which extends eastward for another ninety miles. Deliveries to individual headgates and laterals are made from the main canal. Vancil Reservoir is situated about seventy miles downstream of Riverside, near Snyder and is used to for additional storage and to improve the efficiency of the entire delivery system. Numerous groundwater recharge basins are utilized throughout the service area to provide augmentation for groundwater uses.
